Grand Opening was so awesome I couldn’t make a blog post until now…

It’s already been a week and a half and no one’s posted about Grand Opening week? Oh what, that’s MY job? Sheesh… And I suppose you want to hear all about it too, don’t you? I’m not surprised, it was pretty awesome.

Overall at the QC Co-Lab grand opening, we had people from 4 neighboring hackerspaces come visit, a documentary crew filming everything, cool talks ranging from cloning DNA and home hydroponics to establishing a web presence and changing how we learn today, impromptu soldering workshops, tweet-displyaing Apple II’s, fire and brimstone, and excitement galore.

I’d like to take a little time to say thanks to everyone who made the grand opening a success. I really couldn’t have wished for a more successful kick-start for our facility, and I know a lot of people who put in a lot of time, sweat, effort, expertise, and ingenuity to get us here today.

We’ll be working on compiling the video taken from the talks here in the next couple weeks. The Picasa page should have pictures from the grand opening events posted. If you have shots you’d like to contribute, please upload them at drop.io/qccolab_go and I’ll be sure to add them to the rest. You can upload video there as well.

So… a lot of crazy things happened, but that’s just the beginning. If you missed it, or would like to come around to the Co-Lab to hang out, and/or if you’re interested in membership, our next meeting is Saturday, October 9th, at 1 PM. We’d be glad to see you there!
