Over the last month, the QC Co-Lab, through much deliberation, effort, and hard work has started to move, organize and upgrade the wood shop! The current location of the wood shop isn’t a bad one, and has seen a lot of quality use! The biggest “problem”, if you can even call it that, is that the usage of the wood shop has increased over the last few months. With the increase in use, also came an increase in storage requirements, space needed for assembling and finishing projects, and overall tool availability. The good news for the Co-Lab, is that one of the biggest rooms in the building was actually being used for storage, and a little bit of project staging, so it was primed and ready for conversion to a more usable space!
Over the next few weeks, we are going to be posting stories of the design process, build process, roadblocks, epiphanies, and lessons learned in moving the wood shop. As of right now, the new shop location still has a long way to go. I am hopeful that the new shop will not only give the Co-Lab some much-needed capacity, but also spark the interest of members and non-members alike! We are hoping to walk through the whole process from start to finish! If at any point during the series you come up with some good ideas, and want to make a contribution of time, equipment, or donation please feel free to swing by the Lab, or get in contact via email at [email protected]! Be on the lookout for more posts coming soon!
